Announcing 2023 Global Malwords Index & Winners
An Index of Unprecedent Breadth and Depth...Thanks to You!
The 2023 Global Malwords Index Is Here!
Malwords Weekly is pleased to announce its 2023 Global Malwords Index (GMI). The keywords making up his year’s index represent a diverse cross-section of established terms, last year’s rookies, and recent new arrivals, many of which were nominated by our readers.
What Are Malwords?
For those just joining, Malwords are keywords weaponized for information warfare, verbal viruses designed to silence dissent, gin up demand for government-sanctioned atrocity, and embolden officials to acts of increasingly reckless despotism.
Malword strength is measured by frequency of appearance in the published body of language (corpus), and expressed in words per million (WPM) linguistic units (words, numbers, symbols, acronyms, etc).
Malword WPM’s typically follow a three-phase lifecycle: Pre-Curve (test-market), Curve (launch), and Post-Curve (tail) when primary-objective atrocities are implemented.
Malword Campaigns typically consist of one or two thematic Primary Malwords, a roster of Secondary (Tier 2) terms, and a rotating menu of Tertiaries.
Primaries are "settled science" terms relentlessly drummed into public discourse at median frequencies of 500 WPM (WAR, PANDEMIC, RUSSIA, UKRAINE, etc). Secondaries are transactional, issue-specific terms ranging from 10-250 WPM (ABORTION, CLIMATE CHANGE, VARIANT, GAS PRICES, EXTREMIST).
And this year we break out Tertiaries, sub-10 WPM terms that target specific populations for dehumanizing and removal from the public square (CONSPIRACY THEORY, INSURRECTION, UNVACCINATED, etc)
What is the Global Malwords Index?
The Global Malword Index (GMI) is a volume-weighted composite of malwords that is used for prognosticating where ruling class attitudes towards their prostrate subjects (The Deplorables) are collectively leaning— crackdown or let up.
The index is a diverse basket of Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary terms, which we reset at the beginning of every year, with a little help from our loyal subscribers.
We also want to recognize this week's IMAGE SPONSOR, PeasantZero, master of the captionless meme. Check out his work at @PeasantZero2022 on Gettr, and give him a follow BEFORE his NFT's fetch more than a single-family home in The Valley!
How Did We Compile the 2023 GMI?
As the world grows weary of PANDEMIC Prison and UKRAINE Uxory, we want to keep an eye on the Post-Curve of terms which paved the way for the Great Disabling of the United States as world power, while tracking the rise of next-phase terms leading to the American Dismantling.
So we took last year's index, last year's rookies, and nominations from our Malwords readership, and whipped everything through a steeplechase of three-, six-, nine-, twelve-, and 36-month growth percentage-based heats, taking the top 15 for each and assigning points (1st place: 15 points; 2nd place: 14 points, etc). Then we averaged all that into a final metric, and totaled up the results into the Top Twenty terms, which scored as follows:
Analysis
The list comprises a selection of Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary terms representing legacy, next-gen, and emerging malwords. Every one has a fascinating backstory, along with those which did not make the list-- and which we will continue to cover in our weekly roundup of top performers and decliners. But if we were Tech Barons or Globalist Moguls, some of these would be great names for our yachts and race horses:
GMI Top Three— ELECTION DENIER (2.22 WPM MTD), DEBT CEILING (6.6 WPM MTD), and GENDER-AFFIRMING (1.49 WPM MTD)— nimble and fast-moving tertiaries all, clocked 1,000%+ growth in at least three of the quarterly measurements, with ELECTION DENIER is up 19,675% over three years.
POWER OUTAGE (7.78 WPM MTD) clocked was 100+% growth with zero down quarters.
JANUARY 6 (26.48 WPM MTD) has seen a resurgence as it becomes a fixture in the language.
COVID (323.15 WPM MTD) was down on all quarterlies but retains its tenure with a mindblowing 1,573,711% three-year return, making it the most successful malword of all time, kind of like Michael Jackson's Thriller album.
DIED SUDDENLY (1.28 WPM MTD) came out of nowhere with the random deaths of the jabbed.
Sleeper award goes to CHINA (246.86 WPM MTD), which beat out UKRAINE in the quarterlies.
UKRAINE (276.19 WPM) stays in the GMI by virtue only of its 12 MO and 3 YR returns of 1,000+%, losing half its value since Q2 of last year, but still the most profitable, shortest time-to-money malword ever.
CCP (2.34 WPM MTD) came on strong in the last year as a malword used in both MAGA (2.87 WPM,+194% 3YR) and Mainstream media outlets for the malevolent regime in control of mainland China and much of the US elites.
Felt Absences
VACCINE (91.33 WPM MTD): has been on a steady losing streak over the past year, up 448% lifetime but down 89% from peak value in 2021. It’s place has been taken by VARIANT 37.88 MTD +1057% 1YR
ABORTION (80.33 WPM MTD/+339% 3YR) is down 84% from it high just last June following the Dobbs Leak
CLIMATE CHANGE: (60.42 WPM MTD) is off 40% from its November high, and treading water growth-wise over the last three years.
And Now The Moment You've Been Waiting For
Some of these finishers were predictable, some were surprises, many to the credit of nominations from our savvy readers, who we would like to recognize:
Kelly Held: POWER OUTAGES, VARIANT
Patti Rosenthal: DIED SUDDENLY
Mary Dewitt: GENDER-AFFIRMING
Dave Nielsen: CHINA
Frederick Hink: gets honorary mention for INSECT RECIPES, which backgrounds his fascinating Davos exclusive linked below:
